Music Monday (Biblio – Ambivalence Avenue)

Haven't heard much from Biblio, so I can't push this just yet. This is the title track from the newest album, Ambivalence Avenue. It has a nice vibe to it, hovering over the cozy border of music you can listen to actively or just keep in the background. It's theme music for real people. Looking at iTunes, it seems though that the other tracks, move in a fairly different direction though. All things being what they are, Biblio deserves a listen. Read more [...]

Music Tuesday: Pale Young Gentlemen – Pearls and a Bowtie

Pale Young Gentlemen has had their album sitting on my iPod collecting iPod dust for weeks and weeks. I finally accidentally listened to their new album Black Forest and had a few moments of bliss-ish-ness. The album isn't perfect, but it is a good listen. The YouTube pickings are decidedly weak, this is their best offering which ironically is a song that doesn't seem to have ever made it to an album. For my money I'd go with "There is a Place?" on their newest album, but I still have to spend Read more [...]

Good Music Tuesday: Love is All – Make Out, Fall Out, Make Up

Nothing new here, but I was very psyched a couple years ago when Nine Times that Same Song album came out. I new nothing about Love is All so I don't know why I bought their album, but I was so glad I did. Read more [...]

Crying – The Morning Benders

A band called The Morning Benders released a free covers album. There are two ways to do a cover song, the normal way is to make the song sound as closely to the original as possible. Read more [...]

Les Savy Fav

Coming Back to Joan of Arc

Honestly, I love their music, but nowadays I find I need to be in the right mood— mostly because I associate some of the songs with gloom late teen angst. If you want to hear the song properly try this: Many Times Ive MIstaken - Joan Of Arc Read more [...]

My Angry Email to Sub Pop in 2005

...I like the idea of buying music over the internet because if it gets to the point where people can see it as a legitimate and feasible way to distribute music over time it will erode some of the power major labels have over musicians— which in my silly dreams means more creativity, more musicians, and more money for them (and less to gigantic labels). Read more [...]

Music Tuesday (Deerhoof)

http://www.youtube.com/v/1rrnTDDhVnw Today I want to share Deerhoof. I love them, the lyrics are strange, amazing, and pretty. The sound is original, so much so that no one would ever mistake their music for another's. And best of all the singer's voice is sweet. Read more [...]
